FAQ
Frescobol
What is the difference between the Frescobol sets "Rio Classico", "São Paulo", and "Belo Horizonte"?
If you have never played Frescobol before and have little to no experience with racket sports, then you should opt for the "Rio Classico" version. For long-lasting fun in mixed teams, we would also recommend the "Rio Classico" set. The Sao Paulo rackets and the Belo Horizonte set might be too heavy in this case. For playing with children, we definitely recommend the Rio Classico Frescobol set.
If you are a racket professional (experience in tennis, squash, badminton etc.) and also have strong arms, then you can directly choose the "São Paulo" set or the "Belo Horizonte" set.
The rackets also differ in wood and grip tape color:
Rio Classico: Linden wood and Black walnut, weight per racket approx. 340g, grip tape black & red
São Paulo: Rubber with Linden wood, weight per racket approx. 400g, grip tape orange & blue, improved "sweet spot".
Belo Horizonte: made of 17 different wood layers, weight per racket approx. 400g, grip tape white, improved "sweet spot", great look.
Since the São Paulo and Belo Horizonte rackets are somewhat heavier, they also have better resistance and better rebound behavior, meaning the ball bounces off the racket faster than with the Rio Classico rackets. Once you get used to playing Frescobol (especially with the faster orange and yellow balls), it is somewhat easier to control the ball with the Sao Paulo or Belo Horizonte, but it can take some getting used to for some at first, as the ball becomes very fast.
From what age can one play Frescobol? Is it suitable for my children?
Children should be able to play Frescobol from the age of 8. Initially, it may take younger children a while to adjust to the game. However, with the red ball, they quickly make progress. Furthermore, children quickly notice how their game improves, especially when counting ball touches. This means most children have a lot of fun right from the start.
What's the difference between the balls? There are four different balls. I don't get it.
Frescobol is a very versatile sport. The wide selection of Frescobol balls also contributes to this. That's why we've added more and more balls over time. They mostly differ in texture (rubber, foam, etc.) and color:
Here's a brief explanation:
Intermediate Ball (red): This is by far the best ball for beginners and intermediate players, especially if you have no experience with racket sports. Every player quickly gets a good feel for the racket and ball, and interesting rallies are possible after just a few minutes. This is also the best ball for children (very light).
Speedball (orange and blue): This is the perfect ball once you've gotten used to the game. It's much faster than the red ball, but allows for more intense play. Speedballs are mainly used by experienced players.
Tournament Ball (yellow and pink): The Tournament Ball is the fastest ball in the portfolio. It is used by absolute professionals and especially in Brazilian beach tournaments (like the Frescobol World Cup). If you know Frescobol and can achieve good rallies, then it's worth trying this ball.
Partly more than €80 seems a lot for a Frescobol set. Why is the price so high?
We try to sell our sets as affordably as possible. The price of approx. 80€ results from a combination of a very elaborate and meticulous production process and the careful selection of natural raw materials. We only use very high-quality hardwood for all our paddles. Furthermore, all Frescobol sets are handmade. In return, they last a lifetime - promised!
When comparing the price of a Frescobol set, it should rather be compared to a piece of sports equipment (such as a tennis racket) and not to the price of a plastic beach paddle. Our product is not comparable to that.
The prices of other "real" Frescobol paddles often exceed 200€, and we are deliberately trying to keep the price lower here to increase the popularity of Frescobol across the board.
Which types of wood are used?
We do not use tropical woods and ensure that all woods come from sustainable forestry.
Rio Classico: Lime with black walnut stripes
São Paulo: Rubberwood with lime stripes
Belo Horizonte: 17 different wood layers
Can I use the Frescobol paddles in the water?
All our Frescobol sets are sealed with an environmentally friendly glaze. This means that water splashes are not an issue at all. On the contrary - intense games on the beach are even encouraged. However, we do not necessarily recommend using the paddles IN THE SEA for extended periods. After some time, the wood will soak up water and may lose stability. After all, all our Frescobol paddles are made of 100% natural wood.
How do I protect and care for my clubs?
Signs of wear and tear are naturally unavoidable with a wooden sports product. In general, we recommend treating the rackets accordingly. Our neoprene bag with a separate compartment is perfect for avoiding unnecessary scratches (often caused by sand).
As with all wooden products, sealing the Frescobol rackets with varnish or natural oil (olive oil, sunflower oil, etc.) on smooth areas helps. However, this is only necessary for optical reasons.
EASY HACK: Sometimes, after intensive use, some areas of the racket can become a little rough. In this case, simply rubbing it with a strip of cardboard will make the surface smooth again.
Products & pricing
Why is it sometimes cheaper in the online shop than on Amazon?
Our online shop is still quite new, and we're adding more and more items over time. In the long run, we want to become the coolest outdoor sports brand in Europe. That's why we sometimes offer special discounts to boost our shop and increase awareness of two46.
Furthermore, we don't have to pay any fees to Amazon in our own online shop.
Shipping, Returns & Refunds
Can I return my products for free?
If you have problems with our products or are dissatisfied, we naturally offer a free refund and return. However, if you order 8 items only to return 7 afterwards, then you will unfortunately have to bear the financial costs for shipping and the moral costs for the environment.
How fast is shipping? How long does shipping take?
If you order before 1 p.m., we usually ship the same day.
Within Germany, your package should arrive on the next business day.
Within Europe, your package should arrive within 2-4 business days.
